What is EditDocx?

Do I need to create an account?

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF work runs in your browser. Document bytes do not go to EditDocx servers or a third-party drive for editing. Optional recent files stay in this browser until you clear site data.
Will my edited file open correctly in Microsoft Word?
For everyday documents — body text, styles, lists, common tables, images, light comments and tracked changes — usually yes. Always download and reopen in Word, WPS, or LibreOffice before you send it. What file formats can I open and download?

Can I edit XLSX spreadsheets in EditDocx?

Can I edit PowerPoint files?
Yes. Open .pptx in the browser, make everyday slide edits, and download .pptx again. Complex animations, embedded media edge cases, and password-protected decks may not round-trip — check the download before you present.
Can I fill a PDF without uploading it?
Yes. Type a name or date, add a signature or image, or start from a blank page, then download. Everything stays on your device. How is EditDocx different from Microsoft Word Online?
Word Online needs a Microsoft account and keeps files in OneDrive for cloud collaboration. EditDocx needs no account and keeps editing on your device. What does EditDocx not support?
Word: charts, SmartArt, OLE, macros/VBA. Excel: charts, pivots, images, conditional formatting, data validation, encrypted workbooks. PDF fill: merge/split/compress/OCR. For those, use desktop Office.
Where is my work saved? Will a refresh lose it?
Save (or Ctrl/Cmd+S) writes a checkpoint into this browser’s recent files — up to 10 items, 20MB each. That is not a file in Downloads. Unsaved edits stay in memory and can disappear on refresh or crash. Use Download when you need a real file on disk. Larger files can still open for this session even if they do not fit in recent files.
Does EditDocx support tracked changes?
Yes for Word: tracked changes, comments, and accept/reject. It is light review, not a full desktop Word review suite.
Can I use EditDocx on a phone or Chromebook?

Can I edit confidential contracts without cloud upload?
Yes for EditDocx’s part: processing stays in the browser, so contracts, NDAs, HR forms, and budgets need not enter EditDocx servers for editing. You still decide whether the device itself is allowed for that file. Edit without upload.
Do I need Microsoft 365?
