Privacy Policy

EditDocx (editdocx.net) is designed to keep your documents on your device. This policy explains what data we handle and your choices.

Document content stays on your device

When you edit a DOCX file, all processing happens in your browser. EditDocx does not upload, collect, or store your document content on our servers.

Filling a PDF stays on your device

Fill and sign a PDF also runs in your browser. The PDF you open, what you type or sign, and the download are not uploaded to EditDocx servers. Recent files may be stored in this browser until you clear site data.

Optional Google sign-in

Editing does not require an account. If you choose Sign in with Google, we store a lightweight identity (Google subject id, email, display name, and avatar URL) in our Cloudflare D1 database and a session cookie on your device. Document bytes are not uploaded as part of sign-in. You can sign out at any time; clearing site data also removes the session cookie.

Local browser storage

EditDocx uses IndexedDB on your device for imported files and explicit save checkpoints. Unsaved edits stay in memory; localStorage is used for non-document preferences. Stored browser data remains on your device until you clear site data.

Theme and language preferences

Your theme mode, color preset, and interface language are stored in browser localStorage so your preferences persist between visits. These settings are not sent to our servers.

Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-43CWPERYB6) and usage events sent to our Cloudflare infrastructure. Google Analytics may set cookies or use similar identifiers to measure traffic and engagement. Usage events may include actions such as opening a file, exporting to PDF, switching theme, or signing in — but never your document content or file names. If you are signed in with Google, your account email may be attached to those usage events so we can understand signed-in usage. These aggregates help us improve the product.

Third-party services

We load fonts from Google Fonts. Google Analytics (gtag.js) measures site traffic. Optional Google sign-in uses Google OAuth. Cloudflare provides hosting, session storage for signed-in users, and usage-event storage as described above.

Your choices

You can clear EditDocx data by removing site data for editdocx.net in your browser settings. If you signed in, use Sign out first when possible.

Contact and updates

EditDocx is operated at https://editdocx.net. For privacy questions, email support@editdocx.net or use the Contact page. We may update this policy as our services change. Continued use of the site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

If you need a cloud-free .docx workflow, pair this policy with our FAQ on local storage, the no-upload guide at /blog/edit-docx-without-upload/, Terms of Use, and the blog guides on confidential documents. Your content stays client-side; only optional analytics signals described above may reach third parties.
